In Business Since 1977 | Over 50 Years of Experience | One of the oldest Robinson Helicopter Service Centers
About Us
In 1977, our company was founded as Precision Aircraft Services by Frank Hinds in San Angelo, TX. He had a vision of what he expected from a maintenance facility and believed he could achieve that in his new business. However, the future was unsure in the early years as the company's reputation was being built.
Precision Aircraft Services first rented hangar space from a local fixed-base operator (FBO) that no longer wanted to provide maintenance. After several years in this location, the company was forced to move, and they built a new hangar on the south end of the ramp. This hangar is still our location today.
Since we started, our goal has always been to provide swift, high-quality customer service. No matter who they are, we treat each client as if they were our only client. Over the years, Precision Aircraft Services quickly became one of the top maintenance facilities in West Texas for pleasure planes, commercial aircraft, and airline aircraft.

Building Our Clientele in 1980
In 1980, Precision Aircraft Services expanded our role in the aviation community by becoming one of the first Authorized Robinson Helicopter service centers. The brand's helicopter models immediately exploded in popularity in the area, and their customer base grew beyond what most had expected. Ranchers found that the helicopters met their needs, and people found they could also use them for pleasure.
Through the years, our company has continued to expand our expertise and grow our business with new customers. Staying up to date with technology, we have always remained at the forefront of minor and major changes in the industry. We have managed to expand our knowledge for our customers that wanted the latest aircraft and state-of-the-art parts, from new types of planes and helicopters to new models of magnetos.
Expanding Our Services in 2006
In 2006, Precision Aircraft Services expanded our Robinson Helicopter service center to include the R44 model. Since then, the Robinson Helicopter fleet we maintain regularly has grown to over 36 customer-owned helicopters. We have the knowledge and skills to complete inspections and repairs quickly. Today, we are an authorized repair center for the R22, R44, and R66 models. We have customers from across the country that trust our knowledge and skills.
With every aircraft we maintain, Precision Aircraft Services can develop a plan that meets the needs of our customers. Whether the next flight is for a family trip or a commercial job, we take every step possible to ensure our clients do not miss it. We will assign additional man power to a job or work after-hours to complete the aircraft on time. With a strong team of experts that work well together, we can fulfill our customers' demands within any schedule.
Rebranding in 2013
In 2013, Precision Aircraft Services rebranded to Angelo Precision Aircraft Services, LLC. This name change is another sign of growth as the company expands our role in the aviation community by offering more services in new areas requested by our customers. Throughout our history, we have met our customers' expectations and will continue to do so in the future.
Meet Our Staff
Frank Hinds
Frank Hinds started in aircraft maintenance as a young teenage boy when his father opened an aircraft shop in Hobbs, NM. Frank helped his dad after school and on weekends until graduating high school in 1966. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force and was assigned to Thailand and Vietnam. Upon completing his time with the Air Force, Frank returned to his hometown, where he worked again with his father.
After marrying in 1970 and becoming a young father in 1971, Frank made a dramatic decision that would change his life forever. He accepted a job with Centurion Flight Center in Grand Rapids, MI. While working in this position, Frank was exposed to the maintenance of different aircraft models and maintenance techniques. He learned to handle more aircraft systems from many experts in the field.

Establishing Precision Aircraft Services
In 1975, Frank moved his family to Texas when he took a manager position for a company in San Angelo. While working there, he was exposed to the aviation community in West Texas and felt a void. After two years, Frank decided to open his own business to provide the type of service he wanted for his customers. He established Precision Aircraft Services in 1977, determined to build a company to which he would want to take his own airplane. Frank set out to offer the best aircraft service available.
Frank holds a license in land-based planes as well as rotorcraft. Through the years, he has been checked out in several airplanes and helicopters, allowing him to test most of the aircraft for Precision Aircraft Services. It enables him to learn how different planes and helicopters of the same model act and detect small problems that gradually appear but may be easily missed by his customers. Frank believes that no aircraft should leave the shop if he would not trust it with his life or those of his family.
Commitment to Excellent Service
For over 50 years, Frank has been maintaining the Robinson Helicopter lineup of aircraft. He has developed a great working relationship with the factory and has seen the evolution of their helicopters, from the original products with no aux-fuel tank and little engine to today's models. Additionally, he has maintained many helicopters for his customers nationwide and is one of the leading authorities of Robinson Helicopters.
Throughout his career, Frank has been dedicated to increasing his wealth of knowledge in the aircraft business and has shown this by attending classes at various factories nationwide. Some of the courses he has attended include factory training on Robinson Helicopters, Hughes 300, many of the engine manufacturers, and general aviation aircraft. Frank is dedicated to being the most skilled technician on all aircraft that his shop maintains in West Texas.
Frank received the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award for 50+ years of safe aircraft maintenance and the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for professionalism, skill and aviation expertise by maintaining safe operations for 50+ years. He continues to live and breath aviation. Anyone who knows him, knows he will be at the airport if he is in San Angelo on the weekends. He is dedicated to providing the best service he can to his customers.
Precision Aircraft Services is a company that the entire family was proud to help build. Chris Hinds, Frank's wife, is in charge of the office. Scott, their son, and Tina, their daughter, started very young in the business. While Scott remained with the company, Tina went on to join the US Air Force. She now lives in Texas with her children and still serves our country by working with the military as a civilian.
Chris Hinds
Chris runs and manages the office. Through the years, she has developed working relationships with supply companies. Chris has built a network that allows her and the company to not only locate safe and quality parts but also keep the cost as low as possible for our customers. Her dedication to improving our ability to source hard-to-find items has helped keep some planes in the air that may have otherwise met their doom in the scrapyard.
Scott Hinds
Scott was born into the company and started helping around the shop at an early age. At first, he was cleaning the facility, which allowed the technicians to focus on working on the aircraft. Like Frank, Scott learned the business by working for his father. Years of hands-on experience have proven to be a successful teacher for him. Over the years, he has become a strong asset to the company, and the customers have grown to trust his ability.
Scott has expanded his skills from simple tasks to diagnosing and fixing aircraft problems. He has worked on the smallest planes up to Boeing 737s. As a licensed airframe and powerplant mechanic, Scott knows many airplane models and also the Robinson Helicopter R22, R44, and R66. He has attended the Robinson Helicopter's maintenance course two times.
It was in 1984 when Scott first worked on a Robinson Helicopter and helped open one for inspection. While he initially had limited abilities, Scott could open an aircraft. As the years went by, he improved his abilities and has been to the brand's factory for training twice. Today,
